Masters postponed to 1/11

Freezing rain today and slick roads. High school race postponed. Masters moved to tomorrow at 7PM (to follow mod race).

Practice 1/10/16

Masters practice at Bristol tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7PM. Classic technique. Following high school classic race so there should be tracks set.

New Year’s Poronkusema Race

Start 2017 off right with an XC ski race! We have our first Poronkusema series race scheduled for Bristol Mt Nordic center at 9:30AM. Registration is at The 6K race is open to all including junior, open and masters racers and there is 3K option for novices. The race will be scored for NYSSRA points as well.

Back at Bristol?

Masters tomorrow tentatively at Bristol. Skate technique, 7:30PM. Section V has a confirmed call race there tomorrow so I’m assuming the loop will be open after. Slight chance you could drive out and get shut out, but nothing ventured nothing gained.

Hills with Stina!

I am outbound on my yearly pilgrimage to XC Oregon Nordic Camp in Bend today. I highly recommend it for any masters skiers. While I’m away, Stina Bridgeman of Team USA Ski-O fame will lead today’s hill session. Usual time and place, 6PM Cobbs Hill. Headlamps.

Back to the hill

After sort of skiing last week, we’re back to hill bounding pending the arrival of more white stuff. Tomorrow is hard and fast intervals, but shorter. Meet at 6PM, Cobbs Hill. Lake Riley Parking Lot. Headlamps a good idea.

Back on Skis! 11/22/16

Skis tonight at MPP North Meadow, 5:30PM with headlamps. Conditions are variable. Rolled, but lots of leaves in the woods and thin spots. I’m going classic with fish scales, but everyone should bring whatever they want and just get outside and enjoy. This is 2-months earlier than last year!

No politics on the hill, only suffering

America has mountains to climb, get ready with Hill bounding at Cobbs Hill, 6PM. Headlamps good idea. Super moon present. Come for the first or fiftieth time.

Hill bounding tonight 11/8/16

Election Day hill bounding. Meet at 6PM at the Lake Riley parking lot of Cobbs Hill. Headlamps encouraged.

Tonight is an alternating mix of longer Zone 3 and short Zone 5.

Remember to renew your RXCSF and NYSSRA Nordic memberships for the upcoming season today! Vote skiing!

Boundless enthusiasm

We are back to hill bounding this fall. Every Tuesday night until the snow falls. Meet up at the Lake Riley parking lot at Cobbs Hill at 6PM. Headlamps are useful. Slightly shorter than classic length poles are optimal. We’ll do an easy 1.25 mile warm up run, some dynamic stretching and Spenst drills and then a mix of longer (1:30) and shorter (0:30) bounds. Cool down run after. Aim for 1:00-1:15 for the session. Follow us on Facebook at Rochester Cross Country Ski Foundation for up to the minute details.
